Next gen Xbox will have Blu-Ray!

4.2
Earlier today, a Microsoft Durango Development Kit popped up on the internet. Included with the leak were 5 images of the "Microsoft Durango XDK Documentation Setup" which shed light on previously unknown parts of the console's hardware and functionality.

What we find to be the most significant aspect of the leaked documentation can be seen in the image below. It says: "Durango consoles will have a Blu-Ray Disc drive. Disc media will be used for distribution, but during gameplay, games will not use content from the optical disc." What do you think of this?

ohLuciiid I feel like buying the 720 but i feel that the first few consoles will have some flaws :

I will wait a while before buying it.

Good thinking lol. I'd probably wait 6 months to a year before buying one.

Even I'm sure Sony is using Microsoft software and hardware for there machines.

You forgot the sarcasm tags on that post, unless we are referring to patents which is a different story.

Even OT: This was literally the dumbest news post I've seen. We already know they are using bluray!

Are you allowed to criticise what the staff post? genuine question.

MPAA So MS has conceded defeat and decided to pay royalties to use Sony's disc technology? Not cool. You could have used HD-DVD just to be different!

I think HD-DVD is being phased out so I doubt they considered using it.

Doesn't stop MS from buying out the technology completely if it stops them from paying royalties to the competition.

That's true, although I think they'd rather use blu ray for the extra capacity.

Yes! I don't see a big difference, but now we can say we have it. :)
