Destiny 2 players want the developers to remove commendations from Guardian Rank requirements. Guardian Ranks act as a progression system that requires players to complete some objectives to climb up the ranks. This in-game system, introduced with Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion, provides players with more loadout slots that can be used to save various builds. However, there are no armor or weapon rewards for ascending Guardian Ranks.

This isn't the first time Destiny 2 players have provided valuable feedback on certain aspects of the game. Recently, some claimed that the Togetherness modifier should be removed from the game because it unnecessarily ramps up the difficulty. They said it makes activities that are designed to be completed solo way harder. Some Destiny 2 players also called upon the developers to add craftable void pulse rifles to fix the game's weapon gap issue.

One Destiny 2 player, known on Reddit as TheGuyFromTheMovie, wants the developers to remove commendations as a requirement for unlocking the 10th and 11th Guardian Ranks. As per their statement, they don't want to be at the discretion of other players, who usually forget to give commendations at the end of the activity. Some are too lazy to reward their allies, while others leave the group without handing out commendations to start their next run as soon as possible.

Fellow Destiny 2 players agreed it would be wise to remove commendations from Guardian Rank requirements, with one claiming that this social feature is a waste of time and resources. Some also indicated that the developers could reduce the number of commendations needed for two ranks.

How Destiny 2's Guardian Ranks and Commendations Work
Destiny 2's Guardian Ranks show players how far they have progressed in activities and the main story. Each rank has its requirements that involve completing quests, exploring some sub-regions, and increasing commendation scores. There are a total of 11 levels providing both newcomers and veterans with designated challenges. One thing to note is that Guardian Ranks reset every season.

Commendations are a social feature in Destiny 2 by which players can reward their allies for their effort in an activity. They are a kind of medal that symbolizes hard work and promotes good behavior. Some commendations are limited to specific activities; for instance, Knowledgeable and Perceptive can only be handed out in raids and dungeons.

I’m once again asking Bungie to remove Commendations from Guardian Ranks. No other req within the GR system is at the mercy of other players’ discretion. It’s incredibly common to complete an activity, & have everyone leave immediately after. Even in a premade.
