Larian Studios CEO Swen Vinke has said the company’s moving on from Baldur’s Gate and the Dungeons & Dragons universe.

Speaking at GDC (via PC Gamer), the Baldur’s Gate 3 director said the company has no plans for make DLC, expansions or a sequel to one of last year’s best-selling and most critically acclaimed games.

Instead, the Belgian indie developer and publisher also known for its Divinity RPG series wants to work on something new.

“We are a company of big ideas. We are not a company that’s made to create DLCs or expansions,” he said. “We tried that actually, a few times. It failed every single time. It’s not our thing. Life is too short. Our ambitions are very large.

“Baldur’s Gate will always have a warm spot in our heart. We’ll forever be proud of it but we’re not going to continue in it. We’re not going to make new expansions which everybody is expecting. We’re not going to make Baldur’s Gate 4 which everybody is expecting us to do.

“We’re going to move on. We’re going to move away from D&D and we’re going to start making a new thing.”

On Wednesday, Larian added to a hatful of high-profile awards its won for Baldur’s Gate 3 by taking home four prizes at the GDC Awards, including Game of the Year.

This week, the studio began shipping the physical Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC, but the console versions have been delayed due to production issues.
