EA exec: It is unlikely the next Xbox will play Xbox 360 games

4
An executive for Electronic Arts has recently claimed that we should not expect Xbox 360 games to run on the next-gen Xbox, nor should owners of the next Playstation expect to play PS3 games on the PS4.

Sources report that EA chief financial officer, Blake Jorgensen, said "An important thing to remember is that next-gen consoles will most likely not be backwards compatible… And if you play multiplayer on a game, you'll most likely not be able to play with someone on a different generation."

This will be terrible, I hope that you will be able to play the previous generation games (Xbox 360 and PS3), but just not have cross-generation gaming (Players playing Xbox 360 versions with players on the 720 version ect).

B4NE That's why we have PC.

+1

This is why I prefer PC. When you upgrade your PC, you're pretty much guaranteed your games will still play, unless you change operating system. Although steam is moving towards Linux, and newer games are being developed for windows, Mac and linux.

I'm just going to buy a PS4 if this happens, along with the voice commands and banned pre-owned games. Stupid, stupid idea's.
