Next-Generation Xbox will make Kinect mandatory according to reports

4.5
According to a new claim/rumor that has come out today, the next-generation Xbox will require a Kinect sensor to be plugged in at all times to be able to function.

Every console will be coming with a Kinect, although it will be a much more advanced version of the Kinect, right out of the box.

The new Kinect will apparently be capable of tracking up to six people at the same time, and can track smaller things such as hands and fingers, facial recognition, and even facial expressions.

According to reports, the next-gen console will also have multi-tasking capabilities, including the ability to run more than one game at a time. Another feature could be one that allows you to "suspend" a game, meaning you can switch to another game and then back without losing your exit point in either.

Also, reports say that unlike the Xbox 360, all Durango consoles will come with a 500GB internal hard drive. Also, full disc games will require mandatory installation on the first boot-up, but the installation can be done in the background while you are playing the game.

Recently, reports from Edge have come out that the new Xbox will require an always-on internet connection, which will allow Microsoft to detect and block the people from playing used games.

DeadlyDasher This sounds terrible, when I get back from the gym/playing basketball/whatever physical activity, I just want to sit down, rest, and play a game. Not wave my arms from left to right trying to select things.

It says it is mandatory to have it plugged in, not mandatory to play it. Derp.

You're correct, good job. But why does it need to be plugged in at all times to function? To me it sounds like you're going to need to use it alot, or else it wouldn't have to be plugged it all the time to function. Herp derp.

The new xbox will turn on with voice recognition, so they might get rid of the power button entirely, meaning without the kinnect, you would not even be able to turn it on. I'm certain you won't actually have to use it like you are thinking.

Not sure why this is a big **** deal, if you want to play your Wii, you had to have an IR sensor plugged in, regardless if you played a motion game or not. The Kinect is coming with the new xbox, so this shouldnt really be a deal breaker AT ALL. However, if the anti-used game stuff turns out to be true (which i doubt) then that definitely will be

insteed of them putting so much money and time into this useless safety stuff and no pre owned disk thing

Hmm, I have a feeling that Microsoft won't go through with the whole "No used games" type of thing. Hopefully they come to their senses and realize that with Gamestops stock tanking, they won't be able to sell nearly as many games, new or used. Then, only Walmart really will be the place that will be able to constantly sell the games, seeing as they are an uber company who only sells New games anyways. Microsoft may be a very large Money Whore, but I don't think that they're "Stupid" per-say.

I'm REALLY considering going to PC or Playstation.

I mean really, I understand you don't have to use it but my problem is that, I take my xbox around houses alot and I don't want to have to lug that piece of crap with my xbox plus if you need it plugged in at all times Obviously your going to have to use it alot in some way.

Just my 2 cents.
