Halo Fans Are Worried About The Master Chief Collection

3.8
A recent “thank you” message from developer 343 Industries has some fans concerned about the future of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. First released in 2014 for the Xbox One and eventually ported to later platforms like Steam and Xbox Series X/S, The Master Chief Collection is an updated compilation of every mainline Halo game from the original Halo: Combat Evolved to 2012’s Halo 4. The spin-off titles Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach were also included in The Master Chief Collection, and all entries received refined HD graphics along with new features like adjustable difficulty levels.

Even after Halo 4 was added to The Master Chief Collection’s PC release alongside the Xbox Series X/S port of the entire compilation in 2020, 343 Industries has continued to put out updates and patches to address various technical issues and add new content. For example, in April 2022 a major Master Chief Collection update introduced co-op multiplayer to Halo 3 and ODST, as well as Firefight content based on the parasitic Flood. A few months later, 343 announced that it was looking to recreate the iconic Earthcity demo from Halo 2, though this has still yet to materialize.

It might not be added at all, as a recent “thank you” message from 343 Industries has some wondering if the studio is wrapping up work on Halo: The Master Chief Collection. As reported by Pure Xbox, photos of this special greeting card are being shared across social media outlets like Twitter, with a message thanking the 343 devs it was sent to for their work on The Master Chief Collection. On the outside of the card reads “Finished the fight, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 11/2014 - 07/2023,” with the latter date lining up with the most recent Master Chief Collection update.

This has fans like Twitter user Mint Blitz worried that 343 is discontinuing support for Halo: The Master Chief Collection after almost nine years, but the developer has yet to give any official word on the subject. It would certainly line up with recent rumors that 343 is shifting its focus toward the future of Halo, as well as an unannounced project that could be built using Unreal Engine 5. 343 announced that it was finished developing story content for Halo Infinite in favor of its multiplayer offerings, adding credence to these rumors.

Now it seems like Halo: The Master Chief Collection could also be winding down, at least according to Halo developer 343 Industries’ “thank you” gift that is being shared online. While nothing official has been confirmed about the future of The Master Chief Collection, support for the nearly nine-year-old compilation was bound to end sometime, and if it is indeed the end then fans still have plenty of content to play and replay within the massive Halo collection.

So they took down Halo 360 servers for resources but kept Cod 360 servers online then this lmfao. I mean if their gonna do this at least merge Halo Infinite, Halo 5, Halo MCC into the same launch menu/screen it's kinda a no brainer at this point. Leaving this game behind is a big L.
