Crysis 3 will max out current gen consoles.

4.6
Crytek CEO, Cevat Yerli has been making some very bold claims concerning the release of Crysis 3 to Xbox360 and Playstation3.

In an interview with VideoGamer.com, Yerli claimed that "Crysis 3 is absolutely maxing out the consoles," and that “There is absolutely not even 1% left.”

“No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat out. Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I'm not talking about art style – art is subjective – but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox and PlayStation, I've yet to see a game do that still today.”

This confirms what Rasmus Højengaard, director of creative development at Crytek had previously stated about Crytek implementing “features that shouldn't theoretically work on consoles“.

PC Gamers will be pleased to hear that they will still be receiving the best treatment and visuals from Crytek “With Crysis 3 we're pushing that [Current Gen Consoles] to another level, but the PC is just two levels beyond."

Obviously such bold claims are met with some criticism amongst gamers these days and this time has been no different. Gamers have taken Mr Yarli's words with a pinch of salt and have pointed at several upcoming games that are equally looking visually spectacular.

In a seperate interview Yarli talks about how the next generation of consoles wont be able to make the same kind of impact that are current generation made when they were released.

"The current generation consoles, when they launched, were far ahead compared to PC [...] but PC has caught up. With current generation consoles and what's on the horizon – new ones – due to the fact that the cost of CPU and memory are so much more expensive than they were in the past, it is simply impossible to have the same kind of impact on the console business; to be so far ahead of PC.”

Cevay Yarli continues to talk about how a console's lack of RAM is having a big impact on what developers are able to do with them. Calling the RAM inside the Xbox360 and Playstation3 'underbalanced'.

"If they find ways to cheapen the cost to a degree they could triple or quadruple their memory. Just say, 'Hey we're going to have 32 gigs of memory'. That would be quite amazing because memory can do so many more techniques and tricks."

There's some interesting points and claims made by Cevat Yerli and The Tech Game would be interested to hear what your thoughts are.

Rambo25 Call of duty has the best graphics.....

Your post was so **** stupid that I almost threw my iPhone out of my hands!
Call of Duty is not even Comparable to BF2's Graphics, they are no where near Battlefeild 3 and Crysis 2/3

Black Ops 2, is a massive graphical and mechanical jump for the series, but there are "C" Class compared to BF2/3 and Crysis 2/3, Activision seriously need to get there studios to make a new engine, theres nothing wrong with the current one except for the graphical capability

Hahahahahahahahah lol!

Ps3 has a better CPU (septacore?), whereas 360's benefactor lies with is greater RAM(512mb) when the PS3 only has 256mb. Different strokes for different folks.
Both consoles continue to evolve with eachother and at least were not stuck with a single console, company and developers who would monopolize and eat the industry/content from the inside out. Competition is good for business and helps evolve the technology. With that said we should still respect eachother and our gaming preferences :)

Introducing the first ever RROD on a slim console.

Diesel For everyone commented on the PS3 Cell processor being so much more powerful, yes it is, but it's not developer friendly so never gets fully utilised.
Also the cell chip doesn't do graphics, that's what the RSX GPU is for :P

Actually the Cell Processor can do limited graphical tasks.

Rampages Max out Xbox = Yes.

Max out PS3 = No.

Its a multi-platform game. Developers just code for the 360 and try to just roll it over to the PS3. They are just lazy.

But if they actually max out both consoles 100%, then we will see which console is really better for graphics. In my opinion I think the PS3's version will be better graphically speaking if it is maxed to its limits.

HAHAHA. Somebody has to make some research about Xbox 360 and PS3 hardware.

The cell processor on the playstation alone blows the 360 out of the water. It's too advanced for current gen game developers and that's why companies like Bethesda struggle with it.

I wouldn't say "blow the 360 out of the water," more like it is an better processor than the Xbox 360's processor.

Implementing a complicated processor was a stupid move by Sony. Maybe they will learn from their mistakes...........

Someone has been sucking on Sony's ****.

Nope.

Sad that people like you cannot face the facts that the PS3 hardware is a little better than the 360. When I mean a little a little I mean a little. (Excluding the Cell Processor)

I mean who honestly cares to be honest, you are on a console so I doubt you should care about graphics. If you want great graphics, get a good PC.

Wasn't trying to make my comment as a "PS3 rules, Xbox sucks" statement; all I was trying to hint at was if the PS3 and Xbox 360 would stand-off in a game at max limits the PS3 would be a little better. Not a major difference like comparing PC to Xbox.

Sad how I get 5 comments flaming me for my opinion. I clearly stated "In my opinion."

Need to do research? You can look for yourself and it is proven that the PS3 hardware specs is better than the Xbox 360. After all the PS3 was release a whole year after the 360. But think what you want. Did you not read the "In my opinion" part.

Cevat Yerli is pretty confident, looks like we will just have to wait and see if all of this is true.
