Playstation 4 – Codename Thebes

Although there are still very few details regarding the unannounced PS4, one piece of information seems to have slipped through.
The codename for the next-gen console is rumoured be Thebes, not Orbis as was previously thought.

The only other information that really seems to be known about the PS4 is that it will be using an AMD CPU and GPU

Website SemiAccurate reported that: "It is said to be a 28nm part, likely fabbed at Global Foundries or IBM for the first run, and out after Oban. That would most likely be the spring of 2014, but it could be fall of that year too."
For those of you that were not aware, Oban is the codename given to the Next-Gen Xbox chipset.

It's also a bit of an upset that the report seems to date the PS4 for release in mid to late 2014. This may anger those who were hoping that the 2013 holiday season would mark the start of the next gen console war.
A speculated reason for this might be due to the fact that both Microsoft and Sony seem to be using AMD to create the chips for their next consoles.

Microsoft seems to have called dibs for first in the queue.

Wrong the playstation came out after xbox and is by far worse than the xbox360 the xbox always wins you get what u pay for cheep ps3 = cheap playin experience . Sony will never do better.
Ps3 is no cheaper than Xbox , both play a range of games both have online services , Ps3 and Xbox have a list of different features what makes the console unique , just up to personal opinion which one you like or eventually choose .

so your saying if it comes out after (only by a few months) it may be better xD your an idiot microsoft and sony already have what they probaby want in nxt gen designed and many proto types built but a few months will make it better seeing how they make millions of consoles well in advance your retarded its like saying the second apple picked from the tree is better no we just dont know until we try it

So where has this new codename supposed to have come from? SemiAccurate? I'd expect a better source than just SemiAccurate.
