Sales of Call of Duty are disappointing.
Analysts are calling this trend “a cause for concern” for Activision-Blizzard as the Call of Duty franchise is responsible of 45% of Activision's earnings.
Players and reviewers have become increasingly complacent regarding the latest Call of Duty releases, going so far as to call Treyarch and Infinity Ward, lazy. Shorter single player campaigns and the same old game engine being the most common complaints.
David Vondehaar recently had to defend the use of an ancient (in gaming years) gaming engine. “Anybody who comes at the engine needs to remember it's the 60 frames they love in the first place," he asserted. "And we can make it beautiful - that's through years and years of working with the engine, improving upon it and improving the pipeline and improving our approach, our lighting rendering.”
"People like to talk about the engine, but the truth of the matter is that this isn't like something that was invented six years ago. At this point that engine doesn't resemble anything like any engine - we've ripped out the UI system, the rendering and the lighting are all new, the core gameplay systems are all new.”

Here is my opinion. I like Black Ops 2 and Battlefield 3. Mw3 will be discussed later.... anyways, obviously all of these games have flaws. I think that Blop2 is the winner out of the three. Call of duty is for in my opinion, is good for the casual, non-serious/serious gamer. You can join a game halfway finished, and still have a small chance to coming back and winning. In BF3 this is nearly impossible to do alone. Not saying BF3 is a bad game, I like what they have done with the series. Blop2 has more community touch to it than MW3. I do like how they at least tried to change the series up by making it futuristic. Unlike MW3, they had little influence and more innovation from the past CoD's. 402 said it himself, MW3 was going to be a mixture of classic CoD4 style, with the innovation of MW2. Biggest mistake ever! People play the new CoD's to see how they differ from the past. Good Idea=Kinda, but TERRIBLE outcome.

menzahDeadlyDasherbasedmike has nothing to do with the engine, people are just tired of call of duty. they woke up
Name a games series that started in 2003 or before 2003 that is still going strong. Did all fans of that game just "wake up" too?
*******.
FIFA
1998-2013
Still going strong
Well you're right. It outsold the FIFA 12 pretty badly. But it didn't outsell Black Ops 2, and FIFA came out in September. So if FIFA is still going strong, then Call of Duty is still going strong.
Keep it coming.

Halo 4 didn't outsell the first week sales of Halo 3. Nuff said.

The sales drop because they don't care about their players, whenever a new CoD about to release, they let the hackers sabotage the game. If someone important reading this, PLEASE FIX the leaderboards, for all the previous Call of Duty's!!

I'm not shocked about the 15 percent drop, prediction. Black Ops II, in my opinion, was the 2nd worst CoD made.
