David Vonderhaar: Commentaries are lame

4.7

David Vonderhaar, Game Design Director at Treyarch, has made it publicly known that "commentaries are lame". That's a pretty big statement considering how much of a positive effect Youtube and big commentators have on the Call of Duty community.

Below you will find a few images taken from MuzzaFuzza's Twitter account. Above are images from WhiteBoy7thSt and David Vonderhaar. For those of you who do not know, MuzzaFuzza and WhiteBoy7thSt are commentators on youtube with a total combined audience of 2 million people! That is a huge audience! What you may not have known about them, is apparently they are "lame".

As reported and proven time and time before, Mom and Pop shops that sell videogames are often easily swindled to sell you products once they receive them. Money talks, and these shop owners often listen! Games have been known to slip out of these stores up to two weeks early if you have enough cash on the table.

What are your opinions on people who legitimately buy the game early? Should they be punished with channel strikes, ban's and resets? Or is it fair game since they legally bought this game at a certified reseller?

Jigee So. The commentators who have actually made this game popular (Let's all be honest, without these guys people wouldn't still play CoD) are going to be threatened with bans and strikes against their channels. Way to damn your biggest endorsers treyarch.

i agree its really bad but they arent putting the servers up till 13th anyway so really was no point

At the bottom it talks about how people who pay money early should they be banned or anything. I believe the big commentators who pay 500$ for a game early should be banned. I do not believe a single person rich or poor should be treated better then someone who cant afford to get it early. It takes the fun away from the leaderboards because these people get two weeks extra practice.

I watch commentaries because of the story or commentator, NOT because of the gameplay. Someone could upload a commentary with no gameplay and I would still hear it, if I was interested.
Now if I want to watch some good ol fashioned COD then I would not watch one and go to an awesome gameplay, you know what I mean

Consistent So he would rather just watch the game..

Most commentators don't commentate over the game, they will talk about some topics..

Exactly why he said that they ramble on for the length of a game. They dont usually talk about what you're even watching, which is stupid in my opinion. I dont mind commentaries, some are boring, some are fun to watch, and gameplay/commentaries of games I dont have are always helpful, and fun to see. So to me, commentaries are eh. :P

I love how everyone here is saying they are lame, but 90% of you watch them all the time. :p

I personally find them pretty lame, but I wouldn't bash it like that. It's just my opinion that they are. If they get banned for it, well then they were at fault for playing it early. I feel they should make it more public though. They need to run ads or something stating you would, or may, be banned for playing early. Maybe they should put it in their policies (if they did, I apologize for I must have skipped it.)

Botch Commentators help spread the news about their game. If they don't like commentaries, then they should get people to stop and watch the impact on their sales.

Because of commentaries, I no longer dislike COD
