Microsoft Points starting to be phased out

3.9
Microsoft has begun removing its Points system as a method of payment for the more traditional real-world cash, which includes the official pricing of applications. This changes the way that users will pay for applications on Windows 8, as prior to an update, the point system was still very much active.

While some may like the point system, it has been widely used for Xbox Live and the Zune Marketplace to buy various forms of media and applications. Roughly 80 Microsoft Points is a dollar. However, in newer Windows 8 builds, applications and media can be paid for on a credit card, with the Microsoft Point system being used as a second option.

As for now, we can confirm that Xbox Live is still using the Microsoft point system as a method of payment, however, we could see things change when Microsoft release the new dashboard update. We’ll keep you posted if we learn more about this.

NoggerMcGoo Oh god, why the hell is Microsoft pushing Windows 8 so much.
Windows 8 is pure trash.
you know this how. i hate it when stupid people say **** they know nothing about.

Kid, your just as trash as Windows 8 and your comment.
Why would you come onto a Gaming/Tech website and post **** that you dont know anything about?
If you did your research, you would know that there has been a Windows 8 public Beta for a few months now.

Windows 8 is trash, and just to back my statement up, Notch (creator of minecraft) has refused to port Minecraft to Windows 8, also the ceo of Steam has refused to port the Steam app to Windows 8. This will cause a massive loss of sales because steam is the pc/mac/linux biggest game hub or marketplace and it will stay that way probally up until 2025 (Black Ops 2!!) There is an massive ammount of estimated network loss for Microsoft once Windows 8 becomes fully released. Once again dont come onto a Gaming/Tech website which has about half of it members experts at what they do and say, and comment about stuff you have know **** idea about. Wishthere was a thumbs up button on news comments, quote this post if you agree with me

Agreed windows 8 does suck.

yeah sorry but the beta was terrible windows 7 is much better

Deny They should just do the same thing PSN does where you buy the code and it puts that money onto your account.
you can do this also but it adds MSP instead of money and its easier and usually cheaper just to use straitup money

LaceUp What happens if we have MSP on our account and they get rid of the system?

It says MSP is used as an alternative, so it will stay there and there will be 2 ways to pay
