Microsoft Points starting to be phased out

3.9
Microsoft has begun removing its Points system as a method of payment for the more traditional real-world cash, which includes the official pricing of applications. This changes the way that users will pay for applications on Windows 8, as prior to an update, the point system was still very much active.

While some may like the point system, it has been widely used for Xbox Live and the Zune Marketplace to buy various forms of media and applications. Roughly 80 Microsoft Points is a dollar. However, in newer Windows 8 builds, applications and media can be paid for on a credit card, with the Microsoft Point system being used as a second option.

As for now, we can confirm that Xbox Live is still using the Microsoft point system as a method of payment, however, we could see things change when Microsoft release the new dashboard update. We’ll keep you posted if we learn more about this.

Sprintsyy Wow they're stupid if they get rid of it. Some people dont like using their credit cards and use the points as an alternative....

Read the topic before posting. MSp will no longer be a "Primary" way to pay. you can still use them

Yeah, it doesn't make sense why they would...

blade0007 this is gunna cost them money if they get rid of it completely cause of all the kids/teens that dont have credir cards.

You know getting rid of microsoft points won't stop them from selling Xbox Live Money cards, right?

Yes, but its like at that point, why would you change it? The only difference is the fact that it isn't called Microsoft Points and it includes the dollar $ sign. I think its pointless to get rid of them, as they work very well. Plus, its easier than going into exact dollar and cents, where as Microsoft Points are easily manageable with prices and easier to use.

Ripe They can't cut it out completely.

Thy could buy it would be completely stupid of them.

I hope they don't.

I can't see them completely going because if they did I think people would complain about having nothing to spend them on unless the credited dollars to your account.
