Overwatch 2 Players Want PvE Feature to Come to PvP

4.3
Overwatch 2 has been out in early access for over a month, and some gamers believe Blizzard could improve the PvP experience by adding a feature from the PvE portions of the game. Specifically, fans think that a change to the UI could improve the gameplay experience for support mains in Overwatch 2.

While Blizzard has yet to add a permanent PvE mode to Overwatch 2, which is one of the reasons for its early access status, the team-based hero shooter has already featured several PvE LTMs. As part of the Halloween Terrors event, Overwatch 2 added the new Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride mode. In addition, the previous Junkenstein’s Revenge modes are also available in the Arcade during the event. While these are PvE-focused and mix up the traditional Overwatch gameplay, some gamers believe that an aspect of the experience should make its way to the PvP portion of the game.

Taking to Reddit, one player known as DisturbedWaffles2019 suggested changing the UI for players in Overwatch 2 PvP. According to the Reddit user, they believed that Blizzard should include the teammate health bars in PvP in a similar way to how they are seen in the various released and unreleased PvE modes for the game. To illustrate this point, DisturbedWaffles2019 shared a screenshot of the health bars of teammates seen in the UI when playing Junkenstein’s Revenge in Overwatch 2.

In addition to proposing the idea, DisturbedWaffles2019 wanted to know what the rest of the community thought about it. Since making the post on Reddit, many have responded positively. In fact, the post has gained more than 5.3K upvotes in just a day, with numerous fans claiming that it could be a significant improvement for support players since it would make keeping track of teammates' health easier.

However, some stated that there should be an option to turn the feature off. Among the comments, several gamers said that the extra health bars for teammates cluttered the screen, which could distract from the gameplay. To fix this, some players suggested that Blizzard should look into making elements of the Overwatch 2 UI customizable. For example, the ability to reposition teammates' health bars to other sections of the screen could come in handy. It is worth noting that the upcoming PvE mode for Overwatch 2 positioned health bars in the upper left corner of the screen based on footage from Blizzcon 2019.

This idea of introducing team health bars seems to have potential, and the favorable response from the Overwatch 2 community might mean Blizzard could add it in the future. While support players can already tell the health of teammates around them by looking in their direction, this addition would make it much easier for them to keep tabs on their allies during the middle of a battle. However, players will have to wait and see if the feature is added to PvP as Blizzard has already been dealing with a lot of other issues regarding Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 is available in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
