A new reveal trailer for the upcoming game One-Piece Odyssey gives fans a first look at Water Seven and how it's changed since the original story. In One-Piece Odyssey, the Straw Hat crew navigates the strange world of Memoria, a world drawn from the crew's past experiences but with new twists and changes from what the crew remembers. The new plot focuses on Usopp and Robin, but also includes past locations such as Alabasta and Water Seven along with familiar foes, including the Franky Family and CP9.

Water Seven was originally visited by Luffy and his friends during the 15th story arc of One-Piece as part of the larger Water Seven Saga. The trailer gives hints at what to expect when the crew revisits one of the most popular locations from the source material, including the involvement of the Franky Family and attacks from members of CP9. A quick line of dialogue during the trailer reveals that the Straw Hat crew is aware worlds in Memoria are slightly different from the real world, with a reference to Alabasta having been slightly different.



The Water Seven reveal trailer gives hints at upcoming combat encounters without showing the actual gameplay. As shown earlier, One Piece Odyssey features a turn-based combat system, setting the upcoming game apart from the One-Piece Pirate Warriors games which take inspiration from Dynasty Warriors' musou combat. Instead, the trailer highlights the setting of Water Seven, which looks gorgeous, as players can run around as different members of the Straw Hat crew and use their unique abilities to navigate the environment. Use Luffy to reach areas no one else can access and have the other characters fight for Sanji if he's around women.

One Piece Odyssey is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the franchise, celebrating the long journey of Luffy and friends before the final climax of the epic story. The new interpretations of classic story arcs in One Piece Odyssey will highlight individual members fo the sTraw Hat crew and how they overcome obstacles to unlock the power within themselves. Specific story details are being kept under wraps, for instance while the Water Seven trailer hints at a few changes from the original material, major deviations have yet to be revealed by Bandai-Namco. Which arcs the Straw Hat crew will revisit later in the game have also not been revealed at this time. Could the underwater prison of Impel Nine be reinterpreted? The Enies Lobby arc, which features some characters from Water Seven, could also be re-visited.

Fans do not have to wait long to experience the Straw Hats adventures through the world of Memoria for themselves. One Piece Odyssey's release date is currently set for January 13th, 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
