iPhone 5 lands over two million pre-orders in first 24 hours

iPhone 5 pre-orders topped two million units in just 24 hours.

That's more than double the previous record of one million held by iPhone 4S, according to Apple.
While the company says the majority of pre-orders "will be delivered" to customers in time for the iPhone release date of September 21, it adds that "many are scheduled to be delivered in October".

"iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

"iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we've ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do."

iPhone 5 features a bigger screen than its predecessors, a smaller dock connector and metal casing, along with enhanced first-party apps via the new iOS 6 update, and significantly faster processors which Apple says makes it capable of playing "console quality" games.

Overpriced and overated.

Don't understand why people buy things like this RIGHT when they come out either unless of course they have money to blow.

Botch One of my friends purchased one for $500, and it looks the exact same as the one before it, except has a new charger.
I feel like the people at Apple don't work hard enough anymore :(

They come out with new iPhones mainly to get people to upgrade from their older phones and waste about $200+.

Wow! I'd expected this mainly because all iDevices turn out to be a complete success.

The iPhone 5 is more durable than the GS3.

any phone can break in 1 drop or survive hundreds of drops. it's luck and a case of where it lands and what on

I have had a fair amount of phones, I had an iPod a few years a go and dropped it so much all the time; Luckily the worst thing was only a small scratch on the back.:O
