Halo Infinite suffers fresh content delays as local co-op is cancelled

343 Industries has confirmed a new round of Halo Infinite content delays, as well as the cancellation of the game’s local split-screen co-op mode.

Campaign co-op, the Forge beta and Season 3 have all been pushed back, the studio confirmed in a development update video and new content roadmap, both of which are viewable below.

Campaign co-op, which was previously targeting an August launch, will now arrive in November. So too will the Forge open beta, which was previously scheduled to arrive in September. And the game’s third season of content, Echoes Within, has been delayed until March 2023.

The split-screen couch co-op multiplayer which had previously been announced has been cancelled, with 343 reallocating studio resources “in order to improve and accelerate ongoing live service development, and to better address player feedback and quality of life updates”.

During a 30-minute update video, Joseph Staten, Sean Baron, and Brian Jarrard discussed the upcoming roadmap, which stretches to June 2023.

The game’s Winter Update will run from November 8 until March 7 and will include the aforementioned Forge beta, campaign co-op, and mission replay. This update will also include new maps, Detachment and Argyle.

The following season, “Echoes Within” will be the game’s third. It will include new weapons, a 100-tier battle pass and new equipment. A custom game browser, new game modes and updates to the Forge beta have also been announced for this timeframe, which begins March 7 and runs until June 27.

343 provided the first look at Halo Infinite’s campaign co-op, as well as its mission replay system, in an hour-long preview video released in July, ahead of the launch of a public test for the new features.

It recently confirmed campaign co-op won’t support online matchmaking, meaning players who don’t have a friend to play with will need to seek out a teammate themselves using other channels.

Uzi So far this game has been a let down. They should have delayed releasing the game entirely, then brought out a fully finished game.

They delayed it for a year already
