Bloomberg estimates Xbox Live to be worth $1 billion+

Given the number of users and $50-a-year subscription fee, it's hardly a surprise that Microsoft is pulling in a ton of cash from Xbox Live, but it looks like the service has recently crossed a significant milestone: the $1 billion mark. That's what Bloomberg estimates for the past fiscal year, at least, based on the number of paid users (about 12.5 million), and a recent statement from Microsoft's Dennis Durkin, who said that sales of downloadable content had topped subscription revenue for the first time. That translates to about $600 million from subscription revenue, and at least $600 million from other sales, for a grand total somewhere north of $1.2 billion. Can't really blame Sony for following its lead, can you?

PSN is free, unless you get the PSN+ subscription then its basically the same prices a XBL gold.

I dont care if i pay $50 a year because it is kind of worth it, but they should do something like steam when the game is like 5 or so years old it should be free like a digital download of it.

That is a crazy amount of money. I think Microsoft deserves all of that money, they do run a fine company maybe they should invest in better Microsoft support people, the ones they have now are kinda bad.

They have hosted many giveaways and stuff in the past and do have an on going rewards system for gold members :) i do feel that they arent doing enough to reward us anymore though... i remember playing 1 vs 100 on xbox to win MSPs from M$ but that was years ago...

I loved that 1 vs 100 thing i hope they bring it back i loved it like to see if you would won i may talk to someone and ask.


you remember it to? :p it was really fun! I just wish it was on again now because i would actually have a chance in winning something :)
