Unlocking Xbox Achievements may soon get you free MSP

If you are what's commonly referred to as an "Achievements Whore", you may soon have a real incentive to rake in those Xbox Gamerscore points besides feeling good about yourself on Xbox forums.

Microsoft has teased that it will soon be offering new 'rewards' based on the unlocking of Achievements in Xbox 360 games.
The announcement came from the official Twitter feed of the Xbox Live Rewards website, which teased, "Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!"

Further prying for details was dismissed by the MS rep, but those familiar with the Xbox Live Rewards site will know that it's a loyalty program that offers free Microsoft Points as rewards for completing specific and varying tasks.

That considered, we expect some Achievement-related MS Point rewards coming this Autumn. And that sounds pretty good to us.

I honestly hope this happens. Achievements have no real use right now, but if they actually gave you rewards, like msp, then I would actually TRY to get achievements.

Unlock the easy achievements... reset gamer score, unlock again???

modding gamerscore will not be unlocking rewards due to them not being in the system. when you unlock an achievement in game you will then be able to get rewards. modding is just making it look cool on your own profile

Isn't Microsoft getting rid of MS points at the end of 2012 and just using regular money like PSN?

This would be great. It would help when you need like 60 or so Microsoft points to maybe change name or buy a map pack

i think this is bad idea because some people can chack achievements and they will get lots of MS points

This is a very good idea for those so called "Achievement Whores" why what if someone mods their gamerscore, obviously MS will know about it but what if they still get a payout?
