Community backlash led Jagex to reconsider its stance, and in just a few days you'll be able to install 117Scape's HD Plugin. Both Jagex and 117Scape have come to an official agreement, and the creator of the mod is "personally very happy" with the arrangement.
"HD mode for RuneLite will be released on Monday, September 13 — for free, for everyone," the plugin creator announced. "I will be collaborating with Jagex on the direction of the project going forward so that it remains consistent with their vision for the game. This is not a compromise, it is something I had dreamed of while working on this project."

If you want to see a glimpse of Old School RuneScape in all its HD glory, you can find a few images on the 117Scape Patreon or Twitter account. There's no doubt the plugin will become an instant hit, with a related Reddit thread garnering nearly two thousand comments just hours after being posted.
"We're delighted to confirm that we've reached a positive agreement with 117Scape, and that their much-anticipated HD Plugin for the RuneLite client will be made freely available on Monday, September 13th when RuneLite pushes it live," Jagex said. "We'll publish another blog on the Old School website once 117Scape's HD Plugin is available with information on how to access the plugin, and we'll continue to provide news on any future updates the plugin may receive."
Stay tuned in the coming days for more news related to the first-ever OSRS HD Plugin.
