The next Xbox will ship to retailers in late October or early November of next year with six times the processing power of the Xbox 360, sources close to the project have told IGN. Following initial reports from tech blogs Fudzilla and SemiAccurate, our sources have confirmed that mass production of the system's GPU will indeed begin by the end of 2012 but will not, however, be based on AMD's 7000 series Southern Islands GPU. Instead, the processor will be derived from the 6000 series, which was introduced last year. More specifically, it will be akin to the Radeon HD 6670, which offers support for DirectX11, multidisplay output, 3D and 1080p HD output. The chip currently has a market price of upwards of $79.99.
In real terms, the Xbox 720's raw graphics processing power is expected to be six times that of the Xbox 360 and will yield 20-percent greater performance than Nintendo's forthcoming console, the Wii U.
Developers are likely to receive development kits based on the system's final configuration in August. Projected pricing for the console was not provided.

If the pcgaming community is sooo much better than xbox, why do tv ads mainly focus on the console gamer? why do sales focus on the console gamer? and why do games focus on the console gamer? examples, i watched southpark on comedy central for 2 hours and saw 0 pc ads but saw 15 xbox/ps3 ads 5 only for xbox and 3 only for ps3, i looked in the newspaper and saw 0 pc ads and saw 4 xbox ads and 5 ps3 ads.
TO ALL SMART **** WHO THINK PCS ARE BETTER BIASED ON THE "4 MILLION G A M E S PLAYED IN THE LAST 42 HOURS" if microsoft were to count how many single games that are played on there console it would be nearing 2 million. mainly because of the xbla which has thousands of games many under $1 (also another flaw in the PCs are cheaper line) and many many people play over 5 games a day so if you take the '200,000' xbox members, (which is counted by the4 number of xboxes sold not my the number of live holders) and multiply that by 7 ,which is the average games played for most of my friends over 48 hours, we have 1.4 million, and a large number of the xbox community is offline, around another 30,000. out of all of the people at my school, one plays pc over console, and i personally know of around 30 that play xbox and around 35 who play ps3. so shut up about things you dont know and try to be the deaf mute misleading the choir.
