Future Microsoft titles will be developed for Xbox Series X first

3.9
According to Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg, future first-party titles will be developed for Xbox Series X first.

“Future 1P titles are developed for Xbox Series X first,” Greenberg said on Twitter. “Not saying those games won’t ship on Xbox One, only that we’re leading with Series X & each studio will decide what’s best for their game/community when they launch.”

Greenberg also stated the websites for Avowed and Everwild would be updated to remove Xbox One as a platform (thanks USgamer).

That’s not to say that some of the titles may not come to Xbox One, as he said, just some of the upcoming games shown yesterday are being developed for Xbox Series X first.

His comments may seem confusing to some considering Microsoft has said on more than one occassion that first-party games coming to XSX would not be exclusive to the console for at least two years. Then again, some of the games shown yesterday could be more than two years out as release dates and windows weren’t provided for many.

But at this point, it looks like Avowed, Everwild, Fable, Forza Motorsport, Hellblade 2, and State of Decay 3 are Xbox Series X exclusives.

Mario350 makes sense because theres no reason to make games for a product that is gonna be discontinued soon

While the Xbox One won't continue to be made, there are still millions of people playing them and a viable market for companies to release games for. Not to mention, not everyone will immediately upgrade their consoles. It'll be an over time stretch for them. It's up to the individual companies, and they'll all likely release games on both variants for the first three years before we see them dwindling away from that product.

But they already said they're going to for a good amount of time after the release of next gen, although they didn't specify how much and this seems like they're still trying to push people to buy the new console.

Of course they are taking it this way, To be honest i didn't see any other way they would've taken it, This is what i would do if i was a game/console producer like Xbox.

Doesn't surprise me that this is the direction they want to take. I felt the last gen transition took too long, and they seemed to think so too. Stopping Xbox One production and retail selling, it'll push people to the new console faster.

TL;DR I think this is a good move.
