DOOM Eternal Switch Port Has “Made Great Progress” – id Software

3.9
Id Software’s DOOM Eternal has seen a few lows after launch, particularly with the inclusion of Denuvo Anti-Cheat (since removed in the last update). But otherwise, it’s been smooth sailing for the shooter which sold three million digital units in March for the United States. However, one question still remains: What happened to the port for Nintendo Switch, currently being handled by Panic Button?

When DOOM Eternal received its first major delay, the Switch version was the only one to be delayed “indefinitely.” What’s the current status of the project? Speaking to Gamereactor at GameLab 2020, producers Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin said that “We’ll be talking about the release date pretty soon. We haven’t announced that yet – I can’t do that now. It’s really made great progress.”

Stratton noted that the port will “be every bit as good as DOOM (2016) was, and I’m super excited for people to get it.” Unlike the original game’s port, which “felt a little bit like an experiment,” DOOM Eternal on Switch will be more comparable to other platforms. “We’re really not watering it down at all. People can expect the full experience.”

Stratton previously said that the port wouldn’t see a “huge” delay, so one has to wonder if it will maybe release this August. The timing isn’t too bad with Gamescom 2020 taking place digitally in the same month. It will also get ahead of the big releases that start coming out from September onwards. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

For current owners of DOOM Eternal, campaign DLC is currently in the work.

The trailer is immense. EA also said single player games are dead. id proved them wrong.
