‘Some May Leave Call of Duty for Battlefield 3′

4.7
Yep, it’s another Call of Duty vs. Battlefield type of post. Expect more of this as both games’ launch window nears.

This time it’s Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter weighs in on why Call of Duty’s Elite service might cause some players to “defect” to Battlefield 3.

We expect EA’s game (Battlefield 3) to perform exceedingly well, eclipsing the 6.5 million units sold by the last iteration, and think that Activision’s introduction of Call of Duty Elite (its premium subscription service) could cause a small number of loyal Call of Duty players to defect to EA’s game.

He also thinks that there’s a chance that Modern Warfare 3 could set another entertainment record, yet again. This time toppling Black Ops’ 20 million units sold…but Battlefield 3 might cause Acitvision’s shares to come “under pressure” if it does really well.

While we think that Activision’s 2011 Call of Duty sales have the potential to eclipse last year’s mind-boggling 20 million units, due primarily to the network effect created by the game’s remarkable 17 million weekly active unique online players, we think that the company’s shares may come under pressure when EA’s game is launched, particularly if Battlefield 3 receives a 90+ Metacritic score.

Do you think Pachter’s correct in his analysis? It could just be me, but I suspect Battlefield 3 will sell significantly more than Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Call it a hunch, if you will.

rayanXxX buy them both, simple
Why waste the extra 45 on an overhyped game that will be full of 10 year old quickscopers when you could buy something worthwhile?

CoD is about fun not reality... Im 22 not 10 and I love to quickscope because Im tired of using a Sub-machine gun or an assault rifle (like some other people)

Im not a big fan of big maps and using vehicules but I will still get BF3 to try something different.

XxGummibearxX COD is way better the BFBC
This isn't Bad Company though. This has nothing to do with Bad Company.

I've already left CoD when I got BFBC2, CoD it just doesn't do it for me anymore. Hell I don't even think I'm gonna get MW3
