“This is the year where the PC is going to excel,” - Call of Duty Dev

3.9
Call of Duty: WW2, just like every Call of Duty game, is going to have a PC version. But, as the beta proved to many, the PC version is not an afterthought this year.

One of the biggest signs of that was the Call of Duty: WW2 open beta, which ends today. The beta ran relatively well, and boasted modest specs, an uncapped frame-rate, and other welcome features.

It turns out, it wasn’t a coincidence. Raven Software, the studio responsible for the PC port (and War mode), recently discussed how it’s making a special effort this year to bring PC players a proper Call of Duty.

“The World War 2 setting, and this game in particular I think, is very well suited for the PC community, in the way some of the recent releases haven’t [been],” Raven CTO Dwight Luetscher told PCGamer.

As such, it’s Raven’s mission to deliver a game that matches expectations of the PC community, while being able to responds to player feedback. “I think this year there’s a renewed energy around the PC,” said Luetscher.

“We really believe this is the year where the PC is going to excel. This is the year that we’re going to give it our best shot to win the hearts and minds of the PC community.”

It’s definitely a promising attitude, and will hopefully mean a player base at launch worthy of the Call of Duty name – something the past few Call of Duty games failed to attain.

Call of Duty: WW2 is out November 3 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

lilrichard22 The mostly negative reviews on the PC beta were there for a reason

Well to be honest, most people leave a negative review on CoD just because it's CoD.

Not really. People leave negative reviews because the game is pretty poor.

I was prepared to purchase the game; I played the beta and it feels exactly like the previous recycled games - overall balancing is terrible and SMGs reign supreme like always. The only tactic is to rush with SMG, same as it has been for years.

I really hoped CoD WWII was going to bring new life back into the game but it just further confirmed how stale the series has become.

PC deserves to be up there with other consoles.

If this is the year the PC is going to "excel", they shouldn't try it with Call of Duty. I think this franchise has been going downhill for a while but maybe WWII will be different.

platyui PC is never going excel in COD. There are way too many hackers on PC

With decent anti cheat, that's not at all an issue. Unfortunately, CoD developers have no clue about anti cheat it seems.

Weeb This is very exciting. If I do recall correctly weren't they talking about letting us use mods?

It would be amazing if they did like BO3 and released some mod tools for custom Zombie maps. As for the game I thought it was amazing on PC compared to my Xbox One and PS4
