While Schofield probably meant for his tweet to simply gross out fans who won’t stop bothering him about new zombies information, it does hint at the idea that zombies will be a mixture of flesh and machine, in which the Nazis are literally building an army of the dead.
After all, Sledgehammer previously stated that the zombies appear as the “Third Reich’s desperate attempt to create an army in the final stages of the war,” and we can’t think of anything more desperate than bringing dead soldiers back to life with the Nazis’ infamous advances in engineering.
In answering fans’ questions, Schofield went a little deeper into what we might be able to expect from the zombies themselves. When asked how much the zombies mode will resemble one of Schofield’s previous games, Dead Space, he replied:
Zombies is its own thing but with a similar sick, twisted vibe. The world is definitely in its own dark place. Very dark. Fun as hell tho.

Some fans took that to mean that the zombies mode would be in third person, but it seems more like Schofield was referring to the enemies (and perhaps the core mechanics of the game) more than the camera.
The “sick, twisted vibe” in Dead Space definitely came from the enemies themselves, which mostly consisted of hominid-like creatures that were the mutated love-children of human corpses and an alien fungus controlled by a hive-mind. Hopefully, Call of Duty: WWII‘s zombies will have similar grotesque designs, because that would be awesome.
In the same thread, Schofield rated the mode’s gore, on a scale of one to 10, at an 11, which could also hint at how players will dispose of the zombies. It could mean that, as in Dead Space, dismembering enemies will be more effective than plugging them full of lead, which would also be awesome.
