A weapon that featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been discovered in the game files of Modern Warfare Remastered, prompting speculation that Activision is planning to release additional weapons from other entries in the franchise as DLC.

The popular FN FAL assault rifle has been data mined in the remastered first-person shooter’s PC release by YouTube user SamuelTDope, and found to exist as a fully functioning – albeit normally inaccessible – weapon.

At first, it was believed that the gun’s existence in Modern Warfare Remastered’s game files may have been simply a leftover from an early stage of development, but speculation on social media that it may point to a future DLC for the title has intensified after Activision began issuing copyright strikes against any user who shared, or recreated the footage.
