New details on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s weapon crafting system

4.8
As announced back at Call of Duty XP, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare multiplayer features a new weapon crafting feature which allows players to upgrade the rarity of their weapons. Higher rarity weapons have weapon perks that enhance the weapons.

In an interview with PlayStation LifeStyle, Jordan Hirsh, Infinity Ward’s Multiplayer Project Director, has revealed a few new details about it. As you play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, you earn Salvage, the in-game crafting currency. Salvage earn rate is linked to your playtime.

You then visit the armory in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, where you can see all of the weapons and the rare weapons available. From there, if you have enough Salvage, you can select which weapons you want to upgrade. The more rare a weapon, the more it will cost in Salvage.

The crafting system is really actually pretty simple. While you play the game, you’re earning salvage, which is the crafting currency. So you’ll play the game. If you win, you’ll get a little bit more. It’s mostly tied to the amount of time you’ve played. So you’ll get that crafting currency, and then you’ll go into our armory, which will have a list of all of the base weapons, and all of the rare prototype weapons. So you can select the weapon you want to craft, hit a button, and craft it. (More rare weapons) will take more crafting currency to unlock.

In addition, Hirsh says that the game has over 80 different weapon options once all of the variants are counted. Hirsh confirmed that they have plans to add more weapons in the future, but did not expand on how weapons will be added to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

In the crafting system, right now I believe we have a little over 80 weapons. We have some plans to add some more in the future.

Toxicator My hopes are this game wont reach over 1mil sales across all platforms.

raefon Oh.......let me see, designed for micro transactions at all. The whole unique weapon idea is another load of shit piled onto the steaming pile of manure that is called IW.

FAIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you even read the post?... Why are you posting this? The game that they have worked on for 3 years, doesn't look horible. I'm liking the idea more and more the closer we get to release. Just because of people like you I realize I'll be playing the scrubs who do move onto it. So, I'm not worried, hopefully IW pulls through for us this year, and if not... Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remaster will be there to save the day.

PS: If you're not a CoD fan and just a troll, you should really find another section.

"CHILD PLEASE" !!!!!

maybe you should look at the game the horrible ( yes its spelt with two r's.......over sight on your part I'm sure) concept and the money grabbing processes put in place. It not about being a fan boy. It is about how the once great COD games have been on a steep decline since Ghost.

You can tell already that this game's gonna be rammed full of micro transactions

So this tells me exactly what bo3 told me before they introduced cod points. It's pay 2 win. They make money off addicts who make YouTube vids like biblicalreaper who lost all his money like the fatty he is lmfao

Wow. That actually sounds pretty neat. Might actually give this game a shot.

Skates "Higher rarity weapons have weapon perks that enhance the weapons."

Basically pay to win. GG.

But you use salvage from games you've played to purchase these weapons. Sure I'm betting you can purchase salvage in game but you can also get it legit in game. How's this p2w when the best weapons won't be behind a paywall?

If you can straight up pay for the required salvage to craft the best weapons at the start, then it's pay-to-win. After several months, it won't matter as it'll balance out then. However it'll ruin the launch and the first few months if people can buy powerful things. And as always, higher rarity is rare for a reason. It'll take time to get.

Don't get me wrong, the whole crafting thing sounds great. I won't be buying the game personally, but hopefully they won't let you buy "salvage packs" and ruin the game for everyone.

I didn't know there was going to be a weapon crafting system, although I haven't been following the game too much. Sounds interesting though!
