Call of Duty: World at War runs better on Xbox One via backward compatibility

4.6
The most recent Call of Duty to be made available on backwards compatibility, World at War, seems to have benefited from the jump to Xbox One.

The Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: World at War was released on Xbox One via backwards compatibility earlier this week.

The game was targeting 60 frames-per-second back in the day, but constantly missed that target in single-player when the action on screen was too intense. According to analysis by Digital Foundry, when running on Xbox One hardware, World at War appears to hit its 60fps target more often.

Multiplayer was not tested, but performance in Zombies mode is as good as it was on Xbox 360, with minimal drops.

Overall, frame-rate is certainly better, but in a lot of cases it’s unnoticeable, a far cry from the definite improvement Call of Duty 2 saw.

World at War joins Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, and Black Ops as playable backwards compatible titles. You can buy them directly from Xbox One, or play them for free if you have the Xbox 360 disc, or own digital copies.

I wouldn't think that W@W is a very process intense game, its no surprise the xbox one can handle the game a lot better than the 360.

Skates I've been enjoying playing this recently on my Xbox One. The only problem I have is if you don't have the map packs the game will put you in a dlc match anyways then back you out and prompt you to buy the maps lol.

The game always worked like that, even back when it was just the 360.

ODST kinda a misleading title when the video points out that both games hold 60fps well but the Xbone drops frames less than the 360? The Xbone isn't blowing the game out of the water or anything and unfortunately can't even hold 60fps the entire time despite the huge upgrade in hardware.

That's because it isn't optimized for XB1 architecture and the XB1 is emulating the game and the X360 OS at the same time which requires silly amount of resources. How I wish people would know what they were talking about....

THANK YOU FOR POINTING THAT OUT!!

Omg, people have to study these things before they open their mouth with nonsense. Lol, thanks for setting them straight.

Sawk Isn't this game still 20 pound if so I'm going to pass

You can get it for super cheap at gamestop usually. EDIT: seeing as your UK, I'd see how GAME's prices are.
I guess I could try find a preowned one
