Hello, i'm looking for suggestions on upgrades for my PC, currently my mobo+cpu are kind of dated for video editing as with playback in sony vegas i tend to not be able to watch it at all leaving me unable to use the program for editing if I don't apply edits it wont be laggy but as soon as effects get added it stops playback, my current specs are posted below currently i'm looking at a ryzen 5 2600 6 core with a GIGABYTE B450 AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0) AM4 AMD mobo, but seeing as my current specs i'm on a lga board I'd have to also purchase ddr4. The ryzen and the mobo is 400$ so i'd probably be up to 550$ for the upgrade wondering if theres any upgrades I could go with in the intel section that would be worth going to, or would it be worth just going to am4 anyways.

If you don't want to buy new RAM, then you're only option really is to buy an i7-3770(k) from somewhere. They're not that hard to find, but you'll have to get one from the used market- shouldn't be more than $150 for a 3770k, closer to $100 for a locked i7-3770. This would give you hyperthreading, which will help with editing/rendering.
Otherwise, you're gonna need to upgrade to DDR4 RAM. I'd probably just recommend going with Ryzen, and you can get an R5 with mobo and 16GB RAM for less than $400USD; PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($164.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI - B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.99 @ B&H) Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($104.99 @ Newegg) Total: $384.97 Worth noting you can get an R7 1700 for about the same price as the 2600; pcpartpicker.com/product/3kPzK8/a...700bbaebox 1700 has 2 more cores, but the 2600 has slightly better IPC and is capable of hitting slightly higher clock speeds, so take the 1700 if you're going to utilise more than the 12 threads you get with the R5 2600. If the 2600's 12 thread is enough, then stick with that because it will be better than the 1700 in that case. Also, you don't have an SSD, so you're definitely gonna want to add one. 240/256GB SSD's are cheap af these days, so no reason not to grab one of those, but if possible, I'd aim for a 480-512GB SSD.
