Pele spent a great deal of his career in the Brazilian league (with only a minor American stint towards the end) yet goes down as arguably the greatest footballer of all time. I don't think Messi needs to play in another league to prove himself at all.
If the Liga BBVA was a sub-par league, I'd find the argument more valid. If Messi hadn't ripped apart English teams in the champions league, I'd find the argument more valid. Yes he hasn't scored against Chelsea but Ronaldo has only scored 1 goal in 15 games against us so it's hardly an argument to discredit Messi for Ronaldo. I've always found the Messi/Ronaldo debate very hard. I agree that Ronaldo is a more rounded players and so if you pose a hypothetical situation like playing for an average team, Ronaldo will naturally excel more than Messi. That said, I'm not sure we define great players by how they'd do in a sub-par team. They tend to be considered in the context of the teams they did play for. I'm not necessarily refuting your claim of Ronaldo > Messi. I am however largely against the notion that to be the greatest player of all time, you have to play in multiple leagues. That'd only be the case if a player played in a league like the Swedish league and performed to a world-class standard. The LIGA BBVA is a competitive enough league to breed footballing greats (who need no other league experience to justify his status) sorry if this is a bit wordy and incoherent, I've just awoke. |

Vidic and Ferdinand vs Terry and Carvalho who was the better partnership?
They were both some of the best CB partnerships ever, but Vidic and Ferdy have got to be the best partnership of this century so far. |

| I'd obviously go with the Vidic and Rio one. Carvalho and Terry a close second, howver. I try t be neutral in times like this, Terry is the greatest English CB since Bobby Moore in my opinion, but thebest CB the PL has had for me is Vidic. |

For me , Being the best player in world football means you are well rounded,
Messi has one style of playing individually , And his team plays one way as well and his team has been built around him , He was also part of the best club team for years,Again im not slating Messi , but it would be hard NOT to succeced giving his circumstances, RM is not built around Ronaldo , They just sign whoever the **** they want , and sell him if it doesent work out.Ronaldo has performened in 3 leauges as well as he is the most well rounded player, For me to be the best footballer player in the world you have to be a incredible athlete , Ronaldo is that, I think Ronaldos attitude is better than Messis as well, I dont think ill ever belive Messi>Ronaldo , But certainly not if he doesent go to another leauge , Not just to go to another leauge , But so he proves he can play in another team that isnt built around him with world class talent like Xavi and Iniestia, |
