Hello everyone! I am in the midst of doing some homework on a good VR headset. Of course I am not looking to break the bank but I do understand a good set up can get pricey.

I am mainly looking for one that I can play on my PC with. Am I understanding that the Oculus Quest 2 can play on my PC and have games downloaded to it?

Basically looking for anyone who currently have a VR headset, what headset you have and a short review of what you think!

Play VR for tons of hours literally everyday.

Started with Quest 2. Visuals are great, audio is okay, comfortability is a bit eh.

I use a Valve Index now. Much more comfortable, audio is actually insane, visuals are a bit eh.

I'd say if you're looking to try it get Quest 2, however if you may be interested in full body tracking you should just get the Index.

What game are you really looking to play?

Edit: Yes you can plug the Q2 into your PC and use virtual desktop to have full control and play your PC games.

I have nothing specific in mind yet. Probably a little bit of everything to be honest. I had it for the PlayStation but I feel I would enjoy PC more. To my understanding both should be compatible with steam?

My old lady and I are looking at the quest 2 as well. We were wondering if it could be used to do some decent work outs/exercise? As well as games obviously.

Yeah upon further research and taking what Cat has mentioned into consideration I think the Quest 2 might be for me starting out. I would think as long as they have some exercise apps available for download the VR shouldn't have an issue with being able to use it? I build this off of the PlayStation VR but then it sets a stationary screen as it wasn't an actual "VR" experience.

Yes of course I actually have gotten quite the workout in VR specifically in VRchat cause that what I play.

It's a free game with tons of worlds and some of them are workout maps and it's actually really fun! I'd imagine it's more fun than workout specific games cause you can do it with friends and kind of see what everyone is doing aha.

Q2 sounds like the best way for you guys.

Quest 2 and I play VR on through SteamVR only- it's always plugged in with the Oculus Link cable, so no charging. Since it's SteamVR all my games are stored on the PC. The Rift software in VR lets you use your desktop + virtual keyboard so there's no need to get the Desktop Virtualization app if that is something you want to do and weren't aware of that. And IDK why that guy is saying audio quality is a con, there's a headphone jack on the headset, so you can just plug in your own headphones, mic still works the same. Quest Home > Oculus Link > Rift > SteamVR
Easy and versatile since you can pin windows from your PC or your whole desktop(s) over the game.

I was stating audio is a con off the base headset. Sure you can plug in your own headphones but then it's not the headsets audio it's your headphones aha. Also Q2 is really known to not have a great built in microphone so recording audio is a bit busted too. I used Quest for nearly 6months and as stated I believe it's great but audio and inside out tracking are it's major downfalls compared to lighthouse tracking headsets.
