Hey everyone. I joined this website community today and I have a few questions about downloading other's save data. Before my questions I'll explain my situation. So I've got a google chrome os (64-bit) don't know if the bit has relevance... and my system gigabyte currently shows 6.5gb this Saturday me and my mother are going to best buy to find a usb, however I'm clueless as to what usb I need or should get. I'm wanting to get a few save data files for some ps3 games. So my first question is what usb should I get for putting save data on it, and my second question is once I copy the desired save data what will I have to do from there on out? I'm aware of putting the usb into the port on the console but I'm clueless after that. As you can probably already tell I'm extremely new to this type of stuff. My apologies for sounding like this stuff is difficult when it's probably not... just not used to this type of stuff. Any help/guidance will be appreciated.

Hi Mate,

Here's what I could find on transferring game save data via USB to PS3:

Download the save game file onto your computer and unzip it.

Create a folder called PS3 and a folder inside that called SAVEDATA.

Place the downloaded save files in SAVEDATA (they'll often already come inside a SAVEDATA and PS3 folder in which case you obviously don't need to do this).

Copy the PS3 folder onto your USB device (don't place it inside another folder on the flash drive or external hard drive).

Plug your device into one of the PS3 USB ports.

Navigate to Game on the PS3 XMB menu and then select Saved Data Utility and find your USB device.

Hit triangle to explore and select the save game and then choose Copy.

You'll often have to copy individual files one by one.

Also note that from what I can see this disables trophy unlocks but PS will warn you of this with a pop up window before you proceed. Similarly to Xbox the USB may first have to be formatted to accommodate game files and should prompt you to do so when plugged into the system.

Thank you for giving me some advice. I really appreciate it! I'm currently playing metal gear solid 4 on the hardest mode and I'm stuck on a battle for around 2 weeks so far. I want to continue on but it's a challenging fight. So I'm gonna try and find a save that moves past it. Thanks again for the help.

No problem, there may be some save games in the download section if you feel like having a browse.
