So i have done every test i can find. I have got an i7 4770k and when i replace my i5 4460 it no longer boots. I have tried this with the bare minimum plugged in. With my i5 in, the power supply fan spins constantly until i turn off the power supply. With the i7, it turns on for a second then stops. Is this a bios issue? Any help appreciated
Specs PSU : TSFX Bronze 80 plus 450W CPU: Intel i7 4770k 3.5ghz (i5 4460 originally) Graphics card : AMD Radeon Red devil RX580 8GB Mobo: MSI H97 G43 RAM: 4x 4GB HyperX Fury Storage: 120GB SSD & 500GB HDD Monitor: BenQ Zowie 22inch 144hz LED |

I urge you to reseat the i7 4770k check for any bent pins when you do this. If that doesn't work put the i5 4460 back in and update bios to latest and try again. |

ryanc9598 wrote I did try reseating it but no joy, pins look fine to me also. did you try plugging in your old CPU and see if the problem persists? Also if the old CPU boots , you should try updating your BIOS if at all possible. Lastly , are you for sure that the CPU is compatible with your board ?? I would think it is but might be why you're having an issue |

Update. I have updated my bios on my i5 to the latest version. Took the i5 out and re-installed the i7. Does this mean the i7 is done in? Or is this a power supply issue? |

Id say you have a faulty CPU if the i5 boots just fine but the i7 won't |

Sending the cpu back tomorrow and getting a refund. I think its a sign to just buy a new pc, only really need a mobo cpu and ddr4 ram then il be back up to date again haha |

Try clearing the CMOS. Your motherboard's manual will have instructions. |
