For someone that uses a big chunk of cores under rendering workloads and hardcore PC gaming with part-time streaming (trying to stream more often), is it worth it to wait for the 3950x from Ryzen in September or just stick with a 9900k from Intel?

The specs on the 3950x are insanity. 16 cores/32 threads, 8/64Mb cache. I would wait for the 3950x to be quite honest. Unless you can find a deal on the I9 9900K, i would wait.

The 3950x is going to cost substantially more than a 9900k. You can get a 3900x (12C/24T) now for about the same price as a 9900k. The 3900x already beats the 9900k in pretty much everything- other than some games at 1080p144Hz.

So, depends on what monitor(s) you're using, what games you'll be playing, as well as which you value more between gaming and productivity performance.

I play my games in 4K and playing games with refresh rates under 144hz have never been a huge deal for me since I don't really have the eyes to really see any difference outside of the HDR settings as well.

Is one CPU better than the other for 4K gaming? I heard the 9900k is catered well towards 4K. Thoughts?

Also, the extra $300 dollars are not something I kind too much since my rig is going to be very high end regardless.
