Im trying to create a story about a scientist who is working on something in the era of the New Republic. He does not believe in the Force. He believe in an energy field that can be manipulated by some people but doesn't believe it controls fate or binds the galaxy together. Anyways, I just need something for him to be researching. It really isn't that important to the profile; it just has to sound cool and scientific. Also it can't have already been done in Legends or Canon. I want a fresh idea.
It cannot be - A time machine -A teleporter -A matter replicator -Synthetic tibanna gas -Synthetic coaxium (hyperfuel) -A singularity Weapon - Any type of droid -Anything to do with holograms -A food synthesizer - Anything to do with the Force or Midi-chlorians - A shrink ray -A freeze ray -pico and femtotechnology -A Dyson sphere or any type of megastructure. -Liquid metal armor or a nano morph In canon, during the Empire, scientists were researching methods to control droids, lasers that can punch through deflector shields and ship scale disintigrators. These ideas are therefore taken. I'm trying to look for something that was never researched until the era of the New Republic like kyber crystals weren't until the Empire used them for a superlaser and even then, they had been used in weapons formation in the past. I'm looking for something that presumably hasn't been thought of in the 25,000 years of time where almost everything has already been done. |

I used to write a lot of fanfiction and my own fiction stories honestly I go with like a time machine that would sound really cool.
Another idea could be like a cloning machine of some sort. |

How about a type of device or chemical that alters people's perceptions even if slightly. It's an idea I had for a superpower that would honestly be too in depth to go into for a fan fiction. But the basics are to slightly alter the enemies perception of reality in order to trick them into thinking one thing is happening when something else is happening. I can give an example on how to use this without being overpowered because I thought of ways I'd limit the ability as well if I had the capability of having it but wanted to be seemingly fair.
The device can be a type of frequency emitter. The new republic can have helmets or ear pieces that block the frequency, a frequency jammer if you will lol. The frequency can not be heard by the human ear, it works subconsciously. Humans are constantly affected by subtly vibrations in frequencies all around us. It is at the same time within all being and surrounding all beings. This frequency emitter somehow locks onto a frequency that causes those that hear it to hallucinate. This scientist can figure out how to control the hallucinations seeing it as nothing hut messing with the chemicals in the victims brain through the use of subconscious frequencies. You can make it the force if you want. When in use it can have a limited radius, you can make it whatever you want to suit your cannon/story. It can be directional if you do choose having it be a portable weapon if you'd like or situated on a ship as a cannon or whatever you want it to be. The new order can be affected and only perceive one enemy ship when in reality there is a fleet. On top of this, they will perceive the ship as being nowhere near the fleet. The new order would report destroying the random ship and offworld surveillance would take a look using thermal scopes or whatever, depending on the terrain and weather. Offworld surveilance would try to contact base to warn them to no luck giving away the new technologies capabilities but not how it works just yet You can choose to unveil that it is subconscious frequencies later on or whatever you choose. You could even make it so the enemy doesn't perceive a threat until they're already at the point of death evem, making for complete stealth missions. Eventually leading to a compromise in which information is leaked and maybe even the technology is leaked and used against them. That's if you would want to create a traitor out of an existing character or whatever you choose lol. You honestly have full creativity, but I'm just saying the power to control one's perceptions would be one hell of a power. |

| I decided to go with a quark star. It's better than a black hole because we don't even know if they exist. Perfect for expansion However, I still need something for him to be working on before he deals with the quark star. I'm looking not for a gadget or piece of tech. I've decided everything technological that we can think of, can be done. Speeders with deflector shields? Sure. We haven't seen them but they can easily be done. I'm looking for something that would still be an emerging field of science. Something a Type II/III civilization would do next. |
