no you'll be fine. getting it when running the game on higher resolutions than your monitor is "made for"..

I have this monitor, it's amazing. Didn't pay that much for it though, got it from [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] for quite a bit less.

As stated before though, you might want to consider at least SLI'ing that 970, as I will do in the near future since a single 970 struggles to push more than 60 fps on most demanding games at 1440p.
