Ok so i have a low end rig and I run day z at 10 fps.. bad i know..

Now, iv'e been reading online and found that having all settings on low or medium uses your CPU, anything set to high will use your graphics card

So, my rig has 2 Xeon processors @3.4Ghz no surprise im lagging and my Graphics card is a HD Radeon 5450 again no surprise im lagging.

So my question is, if i left my CPU's and just bought a decent graphics card and put all settings on high, would I get better FPS?

RAM is not an issue i have 8Gb of good RAM

Thanks

No matter what itll still be laggy, a better CPU and GPU would help reduce it but it will always be there. Granted I dont know much about computers but i did what the guy above said except I disabled clouds and shadows, also you can change the priority in your task manager to High.

A 5450... I used to have one of those. That's your problem. You shouldn't be having any problems with CPU power, providing you mean you have a dual socket motherboard and not just a dual core Xeon.

What's your budget for a GPU upgrade? And what PSU do you have atm?

My upgrade from a 5450 was a GTS 450. A Gigabyte one. You can pick them up for around 40 quid off of eBay, and for the price, they're beastly little cards. Gigabyte ones seem to be a bit rarer though. For your budget I can't really think of anything better... It is an old card, but seriously, it performs well for the price. Try get a Gigabyte one, they overclock well. The overclock does help the card out a lot performance wise too.

And that would run well with my two xeons yeah?

Also in your opinion do you think that card upgrade would in turn give me a few extra FPS in day z?
