I'm trying to change my IP to protect my retail Xboxes, and it won't change.

I have a Dynamic Router.
I unplugged my modem and router for 5 minutes, two time.
Still have the same IP.
What do?

in rare cases 5 minutes may not be enough, unplug it from any power source and let it sit while you go make a snack or practice some new yoga position and by the time you get back everything will be solid.

Looks like that's my best option. Be back with a six pack and hopefully a new IP.

Yeah but they can tell you what you need to do, like how to release and request a new ip. And how long the modem need to be off for it to request a new ip. It all depends on your ISP. Some only need to be off for 5 mins and some overnight.

Right on, let me know if that solution worked for you...or the unplugging part at least!

TBH Your can keep your router off for an hour and your IP Will not change.

Crap I assumed he was using a dlink or something similar, your router won't however turning your modem off will...sorry for the confusion!

Unplugged for 11-13 min. Both router and modem. Nothing.

Like the people above said, you'll probably have to contact your isp then. If you have a DHCP connection, your isp leases you the IP for a given amount of time so you could either wait it out or take the initiative. Sorry for your situation man, hopefully it gets rectified soon.
