If some off the teachers had the right training in working with a Pistol or a AR then yes it would help a school, if a shooting was to happen again, but I don't think all the teachers should have weapons just incase things go worse and more weapons are used etc, in a way Teachers with weapons is a good and bad thing, just depends on the situation

This is both good and bad due to the fact that it could be dangerous because you never know what the teachers might do. There could be a chance a student can take it.

Bad side to this is parents may get worried, as they are sending their kids to a school whose teachers have weapons. On the flip side, it would be good for school shootings

Yes, it must worry them sick that their kids wouldn't be totally defenseless if a shooter came along.

In most cases it would be a life or death situation for a armed teacher. If a shooter walks into a classroom and notices that the teacher has a gun, that would be his first target.

You also keep touching on a student finding the hidden compartment, no they wouldn't.
There are many ways to conceal something without anyone ever knowing where it is.

Like I said having at least 5 security guards and 3 officers could cover a whole school.

To add my two cents into this conversation:

I think it is a good idea. It would be good to know that a situation could be handled properly by teachers with training. Gun-free-zones dont do anything and neither would hiding in a corner of the room waiting for the police to show up to end a situation (aka our ingenious lock down drills)

The problem with your idea of having security at every school, is that funding just doesn't come out of thin air. To pay for your magical infinite security force of "highly trained security" and 3 cops (LOL), taxes would have to be hiked and the money-issue would just snowball. There is no practical way something like that would come about, so thinking like that is farcical.

I think its a good idea. If the teachers are armed and go through rigorous training by professionals, they are the first and best line of defense against an armed assailant. More power to this.

To be honest, I would rather have my teachers carry a taser than a gun. There has, and always will be, incidents with guns.
