Hi All
I have purchased a new motherboard and I'm going to replace it with my existing one, as I'm upgrading PC parts I have bought an SSD to run my boot from. As I already have Windows 10 installed onto this motherboard with the HDD as the boot drive...
When I install Windows onto the new motherboard and choose the SSD as the location for windows to be installed, when I eventually reconnect my HDD will the boot drive (partition?) be removed from the HDD or will I have to do it manually? Also, on my HDD are all my personal files and I would like to keep them. Essentially I am asking the best way to go about installing Windows onto the SSD with the new motherboard while retaining the files on the HDD but removing the boot drive.
Any information is much appreciated

You don't install Windows to the motherboard, you install it to the HDD/SSD. Take a note of your activation key in case you need to re-activate Windows, which you probably will since you're doing a fresh install.
If you want to keep the files on your HDD, don't format it when you install Windows to the SSD. You will have to format the Windows partition of the HDD, so hopefully you partitioned your HDD and your files are all separate from your OS drive. Otherwise, you'll want to buy a portable HDD to back up all of the important stuff you need to keep.
