Is there any specific games that you have noticed the whine is audible or is it just across the board on all games? I remember seeing a thread on Reddit some months back about a user with a 1080 having terrible coil whine when playing DOOM on Vulkan API instead of OpenGL.

Edit: In case I'm not back in time to reply if/when you do. Do you have any other PSUs or motherboards that you can connect your card to and see if the coil whine happens again? If so, run it through a stress test and see if it comes back. If you only have a PSU or a motherboard that is extra, still try running your GPU on the one you have and see if the problem persists after a stress test/quick gaming session.

Unfortunately I only have everything that's just in my case. My psu is brand new which I might swap out this weekend and if that persists I'll get a new mother board

Since you mention this is a new GPU, was your previous GPU making any coil whine at all?

Have you been able to test to see if the coil whine is on certain games or is it happening all the time?

I wouldn't swap out your PSU and waste money on it yet, just in case your PSU isn't the issue. What's the exact PSU you have? 750w corsair PSU isn't enough information.

How loud is the coil whine? If it's not too audible unless your room is dead silent, then it might just be the PWM having a high amount of stress, which which causes either the chokes, inductors or motors to vibrate/oscillate, which will make noise.

Some people in the past have had luck reducing coil whine by capping their FPS to their monitor refresh rate (so turning on V-Sync in games) or capping their FPS to 30. You can test out both and then report back if there's any changes or not.

All in all, it might not even be your PSU or motherboard. It is very possible that a GPU just ships with coil whine. Some companies allow an RMA for this. I think ASUS is the only one that doesn't RMA coil whine, unless it's some ear blistering screech. If you really don't want to waste money on a PSU and motherboard just to test if they are the problem; try contacting EVGA and get an RMA going to see if the new GPU that comes in has the same problem.
