Alright guys.
So I'm gonna go on a little rant about abuse/violence towards our furry companions as it is something I feel very strongly against which I'm sure most of you will also.
I was scrolling through Facebook the other day as you do and came across a video of a guy punching into a little dog's face, blood was everywhere and it was whimpering then he proceeded to throw it off a wall. Not sure if anyone has seen it but I advise you not to look. (I won't be sharing it here as I'm sure it wouldn't be appropriate).
What annoys me is that while this sicko is harming the dog there's someone filming him doing it feeling no remorse whatsoever I just don't undertand what would be going through your head to make you wanna do something like that? I've read a lot that it can be linked to the general up-bringing of a person or if they have mental health issues but I don't see either a suitable excuse for this. I have read into a lot of what my country (Scotland) is doing about this animal abuse and it would make you sick how uninterested the authorities and such are. Say they will do this and that yet there are still hundreds of dogs starving to death everyday or being beaten by "owners".
The way I see it if you aren't willing to love an animal or treat it like it deserves to be then you shouldn't be allowed to own one in the first place. This doesn't just apply to your mainstream domestic pets like cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, I'm talking about the full animal world.
Let me know how you guys feel about this and what you think we, as humans, could do to help animals in need such as those with abusive owners?

Harming animals is one of the points on the Macdonald triad - or more popularly known as the homicidal triad - which also includes bedwetting [past a certain age] and an obsession with fire.
People who exhibit any of these behaviors are at a higher risk of murdering someone.
I don't get angry at these people any more because I know that it doesn't help anyone. These people simply need to be found, quickly.
There have been cases where they haven't been found quickly enough and have gone on to kill people.
Unfortunately, there isn't much that we can do to pre-emptively stop them from harming animals, but with the right tenacity you could be involved in stopping them from harming more animals and potentially killing people too.

I think it depends on how much remorse you show after. I currently own two dogs, at one point I had three and I can tell you that you get REALLY pissed off at them. Especially as puppies because they always do dumb things like peeing and pooping in the house, or chewing furniture, or barking at everything, etc.
There's been times where I've done things to me dogs that is probably considered abuse, but then I feel the remorse of the anger getting the best of me in the heat of the moment and that I am much bigger than them. I'll never forget one time when my dogs were puppies I took one of them on a walk, and it got real ugly real quick. Puppies don't have a whole lot of energy so during the walk he just laid down and refused to walk any longer. I picked him up and started back home cradling him like a baby and next thing I knew he was pooping on me. the first thing I want to do is slam him to the ground but of course that'd kill him so I'm going through the list of things that I could do so he could associate that with pain so I flicked him on the nose. Pretty much as hard as I could as I was pissed off at the time and it was hard enough to make him start sneezing.
I'm not saying abuse is OK, what I'm saying is that ever action causes an equal and opposite reaction. It's just nature to react in violence when you're mad and it's hard to train yourself away from that.
