No, in hes Computer atm is a GTX 980 but i want to upgrade, thats why i wanted to know what it was equal to.

Not quite sure how he went from having an HD8470D to a 980? Why are you wanting to upgrade from a 980 to a 1080? OP Your post makes zero sense. What are you looking to do?

Just upgrade the GPU basically haha, that is the main idea.

The GTX 1080 will be a nice purchase and will last, have fun!
