-Pawn wrote I don't justify or condone the deception, I just accept reality. It absolutely sucks that dev's lie to the masses; however, I know how it goes. It is not easy to make these games at all and therefore that is what the devs use as justification. I agree we are entitled to know the stages of development, but realistically that will never happen. I spent weeks working on a very simple game that ended up being fun. To tie it back, there is no way I would have taken suggestions or done other people's ideas because the process of development was enough by itself. Then you take into account that these people are making multiple games at once, already swamped by their work, and the entrepreneur is taking a MASSIVE RISK. If anything goes wrong such as bugs breaking the game - sales begin to drop and the entrepreneur takes the biggest loss of anyone. Yes, I agree it would be AWESOME if the truth weren't stretched by devs, but the realistic part of it is that the games are as strong as they will be.
i see what you're saying, its just disgusting that there is no law to fix this. i feel cheated. thank you so much for your input. it definitely helped me look at it from a different angle.

I'm glad you found value in what I had to say. It does indeed suck that there are no prevention methods at all. Maybe one day there will be some.

I've been studying Games Development for just over a year now so I hope I can put some insight into this. Game developers actually do look at what the audience (us) want. It's called research. Sometimes they use other's research (secondary research). I have also seen a few developers send out surveys to people who participated in betas, or who just expressed interest in the game. (Primary research).

So Games Dev do look at what the consumer wants. Why do you think we end up buying it? They obviously can't do everything we want due to time / resources. For example, GTA. A lot of people wanted DLC for Bikers and Casinos. They saw that and made the Biker DLC. As for the casinos, They haven't done this yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. But even if they don't, that's because they would be working on other things such as better DLC or new games.

I hope that made sense. If you want me to clarify on anything then just ask.

Triple A tittles such as Call of Duty, developers won't entirely listen to us.
Take supply drops for example, they know we hate them, but they'll keep them in the series because they make MILLIONS off of it & they know we'll keep buying supply drops and they know we'll keep buying the next Call of Duty.

Sometimes it is about money, but they probably wouldn't do it if they didn't get so much off of it. I have to imagine that the money they get from things is also a form of feedback. If the idea in question was truly bad, would it make so much money? Wouldn't it just flop and end up in the E.T. burial site?

Sometimes it is about what the company wants. I totally understand listening to fans of a certain series. I also understand the company wanting to go a certain way that maybe fans won't like. They tell the story the way they want. They have the features that they want in their game. They are creating their universe the way they want it, which can be seen as artistic.

I'm on the fence with this type of thing. I can't say for sure when a certain game is made just for money or if the people making it love what they made and want to share that experience with people. All I can suggest is for people to keep talking and to only buy if you like it. If it continues, then either the company or series will die, or the fans actually do like the game and are continuing to support it. I mean, can't rule out the people who enjoy the game but just never talk about it.
