Xbox one queries

Hi ,
I had a few queries on xbox one and not being a gamer myself, was keen to seek advise on the same . We intend to purchase 5 Xbox consoles for our school recreation zone for about 100 students to play( age group 21 to 30 years ) during their class breaks .
My queries are as follows :
1) Is xbox 1 or Xbox 1 S ( new version ) compatible with VR gaming ? If so, which are the VR head sets compatible with it ?
2) Does one require an internet connection for Xbox one or VR gaming ?
3) How can students play amongst themselves , such as competitions etc or how can students they indulge in multi gaming , is it through Xbox live ?
4) How many subscriptions of X Box Live can I purchase if I have 5 X boxes ?
5) What is the Xbox app used for ?
6) Is the Kinect a good buy ?
Please excuse my ignorance on this subject, however I would appreciate your guidance and thanks in advance .

I can answer a few of your questions but not all of them.
3) How can students play amongst themselves , such as competitions etc or how can students they indulge in multi gaming , is it through Xbox live ?
A: You can do a LAN set up if they want to play locally but I think it would be more fun online. So that would be through xbox live.
4) How many subscriptions of Xbox Live can I purchase if I have 5 Xboxes?
A: As of right now you will need to purchase xbox live gold for each account. So say you want one account on each xbox. That would be $59.99 time 5 ($299.95) for 1 year of gold.
5) What is the Xbox app used for?
A: Are you talking about the Xbox Smartglass app for IOS and Android? if so, that can do a whole bunch of neat things. You sign into your account and you can talk with friends, see stats, and if you are on the same wireless network as you xbox (and it is on "instant on") you can turn your xbox on and off from the app.
6) Is the Kinect a good buy?
A: This is my personal opinion. I would say it depends on what kind of games you are looking to buy. The kinect is a lot of fun if you have space and the games to play with it. That being said there are not a whole lot of games out there for it. I personally do not have one but that is because of the types of games I play.
Since it sounds like these will be community xbox's rock band might be a good buy.
