Hey guys.
A few months ago I purchased gta5 on my an old xbox360 console I have. About a week ago I downloaded a profile from the old console to a new xbox360 console as a guest profile. I then used that guest profile to transfer the gta5 game from the old console to the new console. My plans were to play that game online using a host profile I have on the new console that has a Gold account. Unfortunately I later found out that you cannot use a host profile on a xbox console to play a game that was downloaded from another xbox console using a guest profile. Last night, however, a nephew of mine was playing gta5 on the new console using the guest profile. Something happened where the guest profile was signed out by the system while he was playing the game. A few minutes later he got the prompt "you need to be signed in to xbox live continue playing...would you like to sign in to xbox live now?" (or something like that). When he signed back in he used the host profile with Gold account instead of the guest profile....and he was able to play gta5 using that profile! He then tried playing the game online using the host profile and was able to do that as well. I do not know exactly what happened since I wasn't there when this all went down. He doesn't even know why he was signed out from the guest profile in the first place. I thought maybe it was due to an update but I've never seen this happen while in the middle of a game....the updates usually happen when you first sign in. This morning I tried playing the game using the host profile but it didn't let me. I even tried selecting the game under the "recent" section and it didn't work.

Apparently there is a way to do it though....question is...does anyone know how? My old console on which I purchased the game is now giving me problems and will not even load gta5 to play it so I"m hoping I can play it on the new xbox console with a host Gold account I have there. There are other games I have on the old console that I would like to transfer to the new console and play but I do not want to use a guest profile since I already have a profile on the new console with a Gold account and I do not want to have to pay for another Gold account with the guest profile. I hope this wasn't too confusing. I hope someone here knows what I'm talking about and maybe knows how to do what I'm asking. i would appreciate any help at all with this. Thanks.

The profile im assumeing your calling a host profile was the one you bought gta v on from what I understand and if you sign into that profile and start the game first with it you will be able to play the game with another profile after you sign out of it since that profile has a system license for the game and a profile license and thats why your second account cannot play the game just by itself now if you take the account you bought gta v on you can go to account settings i think and license transfer and it will transfer the license of everything you bought on that profile to the xbox you do it on and it will solve your issue of not being able to start and play any games you downloaded from that profile hope this help if you have any other questions just private message me

hi IITZNUMBERS...thanks for the reply. For some reason I did not receive a email notifying me that i had a reply to this thread so I hadn't read your reply until now. When I mention the "host" profile I am referring to the profile native to a xbox console....as in it was created on that console. The profile I used to purchase the game is the host profile on my old xbox but the guest profile on the new xbox console. Thanks for the info about the license transfer. I knew there was a straight way to make it possible to play games with a different profile.....I just had no clue about the license transfer. We did actually find out how he was able to do it without the license transfer method but I'll go ahead and do the license thing which sounds easier. Thanks again!
