MrMcDolphin wrote I have the same issue I got pulled over a couple days ago for going around 80 in a 35 "Late night no cars except for the cop sitting behind some tree" me and some friends just cruising. It was passed my curfew ect "11PM for 16 year olds" He asked where I was going so fast so I just said we are just riding around listening to music. He said I would appreciate it if you would slow down it's not safe speeding and not worth it. I agree with him and go on my way. So never again going to be speeding along

That was pretty much how it was with me except I was by myself. Blaring music, and cruising.

I do NOT have a clean record. I've had 4-5 traffic citations and I am related to no police officers.

Edit: I've also had my license suspended once.

I was respectful and courteous. He tried to make me self-incriminate myself and I plead the 5th, respectfully. We talked for about 5 minutes before asking me for my information me and pleaded me to slow down.

As a police officer, someone can make your day by just being courteous. You have no idea how much shit they deal with on a daily basis. Just answering "Yes sir, no sir" "There is no excuse for speed" ... etc. Don't give them excuse because they've heard it before. There is no excuse. Just remember to be respectful, kind, and answer his questions respectfully. Don't forget to tell him a little story.

I am sorry but I am calling bs on this, you have that much of a trash record and yet you come out with just a warning from a state trooper for being "nice"....

Tickets:

Speeding - 13 Over
Speeding - 27 Over
Failure to Move Over - Moving Violation

Along with non-traffic citations including:
Disorderly Conduct
Criminal Mischief
Truancy

I have no clean record. It was at 1AM (EST).

It all depends on where he was speeding at, we don't know the streets of where he lives so it's kind of hard to make a judgement. I know where I'm from the speed limit is like 55 mph on this particular road and people usually go 80+.. it's a long road, out in the country, and no one really out there so cops don't really pull you over. I mean if it was a street downtown that had a speed limit of 45 and you went 90 I'm sure you would have gotten in a lot more trouble but it doesn't sound like that at all.

I'm going to call BS, because that's reckless driving. The only possible way I see that happening is if you where on an abandon back road, but it's still hard to believe.

You're very lucky. In all fairness, it sounds like your bragging about it, in my eyes it's not big and it's not clever. But each to there own, you really are lucky

Xerath wrote I just got pulled over for doing 90 in a 45. He gave me a warning. That's a good way to end my day.
you got lucky cause that is considered Reckless driving and some states you would of gone to jail or if he would of wrote you a ticket for the full amount on top of it with court cost and the amount of points on your driving record you would be sorry for along time.

take this as a lesson and think about what could of happen

should be thank full the officer was nice enough to give you a warning

Just because someone drives fast doesn't mean they're going to kill someone. If they're a good driver they can handle it.. Just because you can't doesn't mean they can't.

Now that I got that out, there's no reason he should have given you a warning.
He could have arrested you on that.
I didn't even get a warning for doing 50 in a 35 with only one other traffic violation, and I always respect police officers.
It has nothing to do with being able to control the car. No one can control a car in all situations. It's not about how good they are at driving lmao.

You just proved my point. No one can control a car in all situations, including going the speed limit. So going 10 over or not, makes no difference.

its nothing to do with being able to handle it for all you know someone could break suddenly or an animal run in the road and cause a serious accident.

Okay and that can happen going the speed limit too..?

So if someone walks out in front of you, what's gonna kill them, 45 or 90? Speed limits are in place to protect people, nobody wants a death on their conscience.

As if hitting someone at 65 instead of 80 would make a difference though... When 65 is a speed limit, it'd kill them either way.

Then again I don't know or care for where you live but speeding isn't a super big deal around here because small town.

That makes no sense? It's obviously going to be harder to control a car when it's going faster and not only will it be harder, the damage will be greater. You could swerve off the road and hit a bunch of kids walking on the side-way and kill all of them because you "couldn't control the car", but if you were going a little slower, under that speed, it would be easier to control and maybe you might only hurt a couple, not kill them. Not to mention, you're going to prison either way and I'd love to see you use that excuse in court "Sorry judge, but I didn't think it would make a difference if I went over the speed limit because I wouldn't have been able to control the car anyway".

If you're going faster, it's going to take you longer to react and longer to hit the brakes. It will also take the brakes longer to stop the car because the wheels are turning faster, so more force will need to be applied to slow them down. Do you even have a basic understanding of physics or the human body? How can a rabbit jumping onto the road cause a serious accident if you're going 20 MPH? I also find it hilarious that the person speeding, couldn't even convert miles and kilometers. It really shows their intelligence accurately.

At this point, I think you're just trolling to be honest, like where do I even begin with this one. First of all, you have to take the victim's body into consideration here, the damage will be far more visible at a higher speed, so it will be likely that their family wont even be able to recognize them. Secondly, it's a lot worse for you in court, trying to claim it was "an accident" when you well over the speed limit. As I said before, you wont have any time to react at 80 mph, where-as at 60, you will be more aware of your surroundings and actually able to see what's going on. Perhaps, you could have swerved out of the way or the victim would have had time to jump to safety?

The faster you're going, the more damage you will cause. It's not worth someone dying because you're so selfish that you want to get to your destination a little earlier.

Xerath wrote There is nothing wrong with what I was doing. The road is literally a straight road for about 5 miles. I usually do that speed.

Driving the speed limit is a law, therefore you were doing something wrong. You should have at least got a warning. The way that you have made this post makes me think that you are proud of it. If a deer had run out in front of you and you tried to swerve round it you could be dead. Next time try to drive a little slower if you are going to speed.
