Google didn't pay for their logo, it was created in GIMP by someone who worked for them at the time.

oh shit, i can't post gifs now.
so i suppose one of the founders isn't getting paid then, hmm shame.

p.s. only the original logo was created by Sergey Brin the co-founder, since then it was always given to a team with members all throughout the company. for their newest logo they all got together in ny and within a week carefully designed the logo with 4 key points in mind.
-Scale
-Refinement
-Motion
-Systematic branding

and of course they nailed it, but i don't suppose those employees received compensation either eh?
