This is on the same idea was my post below. Anyone know of a cheap 8gb Vram card? Of course "cheap" inst sub $250, but anything in the low $300's would be great. I am using this to run GTA 5, because the game eats Vram like hell.

Cheapest would be a used 290 8Gb model or a 390.

My friend has the Windforce one on amazon and he plays GTA 5 with me online with it and as far as I can tell it is a good card he hasn't had any problems with it and he's had it since a few days after release

My 970 runs GTA V fine, near constant 75FPS on v/high settings

I'm not saying that the 390 is a waste of money, but 8GB of VRAM isn't necessary for 1080p most definitely, I could tell no difference between my 390 and 970 in GTA, and people complain about the 970's slower .5GB of VRAM which honestly won't make a difference unless you are maxing it out which you wont at 1080p.

Focus more on what games you'll be playing and how much you can spend rather than the amount of VRAM you want.
