The story
So I'm a freshman in high school. This year I chose to take this class called wood shop. Basically you choose whatever you want to make and the teacher shows you how to make it out of wood (I wanted to make a long board). The class was much larger than any other class I'd took before so I figured the teacher would get a little worked up every once in a while. Second day of school came and the teacher handed out a paper to fill out about ourselves so I took a pencil out. The teacher walked to my seat and snatched the paper off my desk and ripped it in half. He told me I had a half an hour detention after school. I served the detention and I went up to talk to him so I can apologize for whatever I did wrong. He told me I "pulled my pencil out too early" and told me to never do it again. Weeks went on and I kept getting lunch detentions for strange and pointless reasons. Every detention I would need to do pointless things like staking the chairs then unstacking them. I've tried to talk to the counseling office but they just said it was too late to drop the class or to get a new schedule. Things went on until today when it hit an all time low. This kid named Aidan gets away with literally everything. I was with a couple buddies and doing my work, This kid walks up with a hammer and thought it would be funny to snap my work in half. He slams my project as hard as he can there it went, All my work down the drain. and I Knowing I was going to be the one to get in trouble in this situation asked the boy as calmly as I possibly could why he thought that was necessary. (This kid is about 5'5" and i'm 6') He said because it was funny and then had then proceeded to shove me. Him being pretty small didn't really affect me at all but It made me a bit more angry. I lightly pushed him away and picked up what was my project. He came back and punched me as hard as he could in the stomach. I pushed him away again hard enough to make his stumble and trip and fall. He got back up realizing what he was trying wasn't going to work. He ran to the teacher and told him that I walked up to him while he was working and started beating him with my project. I was told to go to the office and wait 'till after school. Time came and I was called into the principles office. I was told I was going to receive 3 after school detentions and a 4 day suspension along with an apology to the class, Aidan, and his parents. Worst. Class. Ever.

Have you guys had anything like this ever happen to you?

This sounds absolutely mental but classic schools.

Happens in every school though. Mine was the same.

This is why I don't go to Public Schools. The kids/teachers in them are retarded. Home school ftw lmao

That right there was one of the reasons I got out of public school. As the year goes on, you'll find out that wood shop is a joke. You can't make anything that might take skilled work because it's using "dangerous practices on machinery that wasn't meant to be used in that way". I got a lot of those write ups lol.

Stand up for yourself, if you don't feel you did anything wrong, don't do the detention. One time a kid said I flipped him off in the parking lot of the school so the principal tried to give me a detention. There are cameras in the parking lot, and he refused to show me the footage where I supposedly flipped this kid off. I had a drivers ed test that day so I told him either he counts that as my detention or he gives me a 3 day vacation because I did not flip that kid off. He said he'll get the paperwork ready for my 3 day suspension, I said thank you, I could really use this time off. I got out of my drivers ed class and he told me he'd just consider this as my detention.

Public schools are screwed up anymore, if you want a real education, I would encourage you to get the hell out of there and do an online school. Yeah you won't see your friends, but guess what? After graduation the same thing happens, everyone goes their own ways. School is nothing more than a glorified babysitter that teaches you how to pass a test, but doesn't teach you anything that will stick.

Sounds like some typical nonsense from schools with incompetent teachers. Did they not even give you an opportunity to explain your side, or talk to your friends to make sure the other kid wasn't just feeding them bs?

I tried to explain my side but they kept interrupting and repeating that they already heard the story

When I skip detentions the next day they have someone escort me to the office to serve my detention like i'm some kind of criminal. You're right man, public school sucks. Looking up online school now lmao
